Review: Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince
July 20, 2005 by iamdoods
It was around 11 A.M. of Saturday, July 16, when I hurried myself to get my copy of HP6 at National Bookstore in Gaisano Mall. It’s the day I’ve been waiting for. It’s been 4 months since I had my reservation for the book and I guess the waiting is over. I hastily went to the counter to grab my copy, even though I only had some cash in my wallet. I had some little argument with the cashier, I was wondering if I charge the remaining balance to my credit card. I just don’t get it why she said it can’t be done. I smirked and went to the ATM to get the cash I was saving for my brother’s allowance. At last, it was on my hands, the adventure is in me.
Unfortunately, I finished the book on Tuesday night, that’s 4 nights. I couldn’t finish it as fast as I wanted too. I’ve got to many things to do with my work. But at least, I did finish reading it.
And to the book. It was mature, disturbing, dark, and scary. Major characters are in peril and one major character died, which of course everyone is talking about on the web. A betrayal was committed and all I could say is that it was all part of the play. Maturity comes to the 3 friends, who almost all the time talks about their sexual behaviors. A lot of "snogging" happens in the campus. But of course, Harry is not getting any younger, he is already on his sixth year in college and the author seems to make it a point that the book grows with the character. I think it was slow-paced but of course I was patient because I know the action will happen more as I read the book.
I was saddened with the lost of the character that has been dear to all Potter-lover. But the author was so brave to make the sacrifice.
There were lots of clues in the book that gives me idea what to expect in the coming final chapter which Rowling is planning to start at the end of the year to be published on 2007. And till then, we will know what will be the end of "The Boy Who Lived".
I’m out!
