- Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring (Korea) - This buddhism-inpired movie is a pleasure both visually and narratively (tama ba?). The seasons are referred to the cycle of how a buddhist master is made. It seems like a personal journey of the filmmaker, an spiritual journey. This was nominated at the Oscars under the Foreign Language Film category.
- City of God (Brazil) - A look at the suburban brazil. The setting is a gang-controlled teritory where a boy dreamed to become a photographer while his other friends wanted to become a gang leader. The story being told through the perspective of the boy as he went around the town taking pictures for a publication. Also nominated for Foriegn Language Film.
