The Lake House is not Moments of Love
June 18, 2006 by iamdoods
The Lake House is a Hollywood version of a Korean love story movie Il Mare. Il Mare caught the attention of Sandra Bullock and made The Lake House. Il Mare was shown way before Moments of Love, and there was a time when a tabloid reported that Moments of Love was never an original, which the local producers claimed, but rather a revised version of Il Mare. So to those who kept on saying that The Lake House is Moments of Love, your wrong.
The movie’s premise is simple, the obscure definition of long distance relationship. Time is all that separates them, like Moments but this time, for a couple of years. They both live on a Lake House, when the Sandra leaves the house, Keannu took over. But it was the other way around as the movie progresses, it was Keannu who leaves the house and Sandra took over. Keannu lives in 2004, while Sandra in 2006. They communicate throug the Lake House’ mailbox.
What caught my attention is how the two leads make a beautiful couple on-scrren. Even if they are not on screen together, you could see that both actors are a perfect pair. The scenes where they can be seen as if talking to each other is a plus. It’s a great way of telling it on a different level. The director really knows how to put uniqueness to the movie.
I admit I was a little disappointed with the ending although some might like it because most of us like happy endings. Tell me what you think about the ending.
I’m out!
ya i was silently hoping for a tragedy too. i have a friend who says sandra and keanu (1 n only) don’t have onscreen chemistry. rina jimenez david of pdi says ‘il mare’ is better than ‘lakehouse’ but that she was planning to watch ‘lakehouse’ again. i was ok with the whole film. though i think they could’ve chosen a less revolting looking actor to play keanu’s younger bro. dylan walsh of nip/tuck fame obligingly plays sandra’s chopped liver boyfriend.
