Watch out, they are coming…

If you love movies, here’s a rundown of what I would like to catch this year, before the year ends.
- The Prestige - having watched the intriguing and well-made Memento, the humanized Batman in Batman Begins, and the insomiac-saga Insomnia, I begin to develop fondness over Chris Nolan’s masterpieces. Set in the world of magician, two friends (Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman) are in a ride for a test of what is true and what is not. It’s like watching Batman versus Wolverine.
- The Fountain - Hug Jackman again in a story about the fountain of youth. With Rachel Weisz on the side and Darren Aronofsky on the lens. I adored Aronofsky’s Requien for A Dream and I will adore this one too. Sure of it.
- Marie Antoinette - The second time that Kirsten Dunst and Sophia Coppola work together. I love Lost in Translation and The Virgin Suicides and I heard the movie will use current pop music for background. How is that for a period movie?
- Flushed Away - From the makers of Wallace and Gromit, here comes another clay animation.
- Babel - Brad Pitt, Kate Blanchet, Gael Garcia Bernal and Alejandro González Iñárritu. Nothing more.
- Casino Royale (21st James Bond) - Like Layer Cake? I loved it.
- Apocalypto - Another movie in ancient laguage from Mel Gibson. This time, the Mayan civilization.
- Eragon - Dragons but not Dungeons and Dragons. Magic but not Harry Potter. Medieval fantasy but not Lord of the Rings. It’s another book-to-screen adaptation of a beloved fantasy novel written by a 13-year-old boy. Interesting!
- Charlotte’s Web - A Babe-like movie where a talking spider is voiced by Julia Roberts. Now that’s a role!
- Children of Men - After taking Harry Potter to the dark side, I mean to a darker tone, Alfonso Cuaron takes a chance on a futurist movie about human extinction. The catch? Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Sir Michael Caine.
Hope these movie will be shown here in the Philippines as soon as it is shown in the US.
